Laptop Liberation Front

Currently located in the post-industrial Laurel Highlands near Pittsburgh, the Laptop Liberation Front (LLF) is a University Research Lab splinter group operating in the shadows of state institutions, salvaging and rescuing (liberating) outmoded computers otherwise destined for the junkyards of Tijuana and elsewhere. After refurbishing the machines with contemporary free software packages (Linux; Open Office, etc.), the machines are placed in the hands of community members who need them. Since 2003, the LLF has outfitted a community center, several punk rock houses, student rooms, and the under or unemployed.

If you have a need for a computer or have spare parts to donate, or can help with the refurbishing and software installation, please contact the LLF at info at factory school dot org.
